APPLICATIONS
Gelman ToxiGuard TXG Series Filtered Fume Enclosures are designed to provide a high degree of personnel and environment protection from odours or unsafe concentrations of chemicals, vapours and aerosols in the laboratories using the latest molecular filtration technology.
The Gelman ToxiGuard TXG Series filtered fume enclosures are extensively used in laboratories including clinical diagnostic testing, biological and medical research, analytical chemistry, quality control, biotechnology, cosmetic, photographic as well as in the food, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and electronic industries.
DESCRIPTION
The Gelman ToxiGuard TXG Series filtered fume enclosures:
- can be operated as a console unit or joined together to form continuous runs of fume-containment rows.
- can be used as
-
- non-ducted filtered fume enclosure in the ‘recirculatory’ mode
- ‘ducted’ fume enclosure without filtration
- ‘filtered/ducted’ fume enclosure in the combined operational mode.
- can be converted to filter organic solvents, acid gases, formaldehyde, ammonia, radioactive iodine and other specific gases when installed with the correct HMZD molecular carbon filter without changing or modifying the unit.
OPERATION
The ToxiGuard TXG Series enclosures maintain an average inflow velocity of 100 fpm through the work access opening. An effective air barrier between the operator and the work zone, maintained by an inward flow of room air into the work access opening provides personnel and environment protection.
The barrier air blends with the contaminated work area air and is directed through an easily accessible prefilter on top of the work zone to trap large particles.
The prefiltered air passes through a single or dual-layered composite filter cells and is totally exhausted to the laboratory or outside atmosphere.
Gelman ToxiGuard TXG-BASIC Series Enclosures
The enclosure is installed with a single layer of HMZD molecular carbon filter(s), suitable for handlings of small to medium quantities of chemicals.
Gelman ToxiGuard TXG-XLE Series Enclosures
The enclosure has extended or extra large work area with a single layer of HMZD molecular carbon filters, suitable for handlings of small to medium quantities of chemicals and ideal for use with large apparatus or laboratory equipment.
Gelman ToxiGuard TXG-HICAP Series Enclosures with Dual-HMZD Molecular Carbon Exhaust Filtration System
The enclosure has extended or extra large work area with a dual-layered composite filter cells. It is suitable for handlings of large quantities of chemicals due to its high chemical retention capacities and ideal for use with large apparatus or laboratory equipment.
The dual-layered composite filter cells have main HMZD molecular carbon filters that remove odours and toxic chemical contaminants released within the work zone and secondary or security backup HMZD molecular carbon filters to provide the final filtration before the air is totally exhausted to the laboratory or outside atmosphere. The security backup filters provide a fail-safe measure to prevent any unfiltered gaseous contaminants from escaping in the event that the main filters failed or are saturated.
